Its amazing how many pet stores treat there reptiles so poorly but wouldnt treat a puppy that way (o wait Ive seen that too) I just got a collared again last week I havent had one in probably 10 years but if I remember right the females are usually less colored and the males much brighter-Ill have to look that one up soon ill let you know what I find out.
