My name is Natalie, I live in Columbus, Ohio and I'm a senior soon to graduate from Capital University with a degree in Criminology and an emphasis on psychology and women's studies.

The first "unusual" pet I had was a firebelly newt that my dad helped me pick out when his cat killed my fish. Ever since, I've just been so interested and fascinated in reptiles and amphibians, that when I saw this site, I was ecstatic!

At least now, my dorkiness is validated.

I love turtles (obviously), tortoises, lizards in general and amphibians. All sorts- newts, salamanders, frogs, toads.

Music, Movies, TV in general (i actually DO watch a lot of educational programming...like mythbusters and dirty jobs on discovery lol), Animals (especially aquariums- they make me very happy), my family and friends, and Cleveland Indians baseball (when I remember of course).

I currently have 3 Red Ear Sliders and 2 Mississippi Map Turtles. All of them were rescues from coworkers and customers when I worked at PetSmart here in Columbus. My non reptilian pets are 3 Zebra Finches and some fishies! Oh, and I have a betta that's in love with me.

After the first turtle, people started calling me the Turtle Lady or the Turtle Girl- so I always made sure that when we got some into the store for sale that I let the potential new parents know ALL I COULD about the cares of a turtle- that just because these animals cost $15 initially does not mean that they are EASY to take care of.

(Looking at the child in question:) "So, do you know you'll be passing this on to your grandchildren to take care of?"

I really would LOVE to get a diamondback terrapin. They are absolutely gorgeous!
