I belong to a few forums and I have noticed a tendency for a few to try to shut others up with comments such as "if you have nothing intelligent to say.." "why are you answering an older post?" and the one I especially hate, "you write like a 12 year old!" None of these remarks have been aimed at me (yet), but it is discouraging to realize that on a forum (of all places) people tend to or seem to forget the purpose of them.
