P regilla cascadae
Posted On 05/16/2008 01:02:01 by FunkyRes
Cascade Mountain Treefrog - Pseudacris regilla cascadae - known in field guides as Pacific Treefrog.Last night I stepped out on my porch and noticed this little guy climbing up the side of the door jam, towards the porch light that attracts bugs. After a few minutes I opened the door to go in again - and he climbed right to where he would be squished were I to close the door.So I use my finger to try and persuade him to climb elsewhere - and he climbs onto my finger as if it were a branch. A Real Handful
Posted On 05/01/2008 13:42:05 by uncle_flo
Uncle Flo’ would like to apologize to all his faithful readers out there for bein’ absent from the recent goings-on here at Reptile Geeks.  A man can only do so much after prostate surgery.  He’s especially embarrassed about the way Aunt Flo’ took over his blog a few weeks back.  That shrivelled up ol’ shrew will do just about anythin’ to besmirch your dear ol’ uncle’s reputation.  Pay her no mind, she’s just a barren, wasted shell of what used to be a woman who’s jealous tha... Aside from engagin in daily mental and physical combat with his old lady Aunt Flo', Uncle Flo' lives a fairly peaceful existence.  He eats his Cracklin' Oat Bran in the mornin, takes care o' his critters, sneaks back into bed for his mid-mornin nap, and so on.  A trip to the grocery store for Depends is just about all the excitement he can take.

So imagine when almost 30 homeschoolin' types descended on his house last Friday to learn about snakes.  Your ol' uncle's heart ne... Read More

From a photography standpoint, Uncle Flo's been challenged by one o' his younger chondros, a feller by the name of Captain 20.  The Captain is over a year and a half old, so most of his color change is a done deal, but he still has lots o' yeller in his scales.  How much yeller depends on where you are when you're lookin' at him, not to mention how keen your eyesight is and your ability to discern various hues from one another.  So Uncle Flo' tried to capture the Captain's true co... Sunny Day
Posted On 03/14/2008 10:21:24 by uncle_flo
Uncle Flo' finished his appointments a bit early yesterday and snuck into the house the back way so as to avoid Aunt Flo' and her Honey-Do list.  Except with Aunt Flo' there's no honey, and it's more of a Do-It-Now-Before-I-Knock-You-U pside-The-Head list.

It was such a nice day out, though, that Flo' couldn't stand to be wastin' the afternoon away hidin' down in his sanctuary, the reptile room.  So he grabbed one of his green beauties and a lil' point-an'-click digital... Read More
