My night
Posted On 04/13/2008 08:28:02 by Craig

Last night got a call from a friend who works for animal control in New Brunswick N.J .. There was an apartment where the tenants moved and left all there animals. 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a WTF .. I help out will local animal controls a lot. They where under staffed last night .. By the time I got there they already had the 3 dogs and 1 of the cats back at there facility . Took us a while to get the last cat. While under a bed getting her out I ended up getting some nice scratches right above my cat gloves. So right now my upper arm is pretty swollen.

Going to have to wait till tomorrow to go to the doctor. While there I noticed one of the most disgusting tanks I have ever seen in my life. There was a very malnourished White tree frog. But he was still alive barley. Seems the tenants moved out 2 to 3 weeks ago. It took the Super guy that long to call animal control. I had some choose words with him last night. He wasn't the sharpest pencil ion the box. He thought they where coming back for them.

They don't really have anything to care for reptiles / Amphibians. So I ended up taking him home. Was online looking up everything possible to help this little guy out. Set up a whole new tank.  Try putting some crickets by him but he didn't  even budge. Didn't get any sleep yet. But around 6 this morning, he passed think the stress from the move was a little to much for him to handle.

Still kinda sucks and is upsetting :(

I called New Brunswick this morning to see how the dogs and cats where doing. The 2 cats seem to be doing fine just where really hungry and thirsty. 2 out the 3 dogs where sent to the animal hospital. The older shep mix seems to be having some kind of kidney failure.  The pitbull mix just needed an IV he was so emaciated. Poor guys. :(  They all going to there vet on monday will keep an update...

Just got back from my doctors ... She said it could be a bacterial infection. Like cat scratch disease but she was a little worried about the swelling and a slight rash. So I am taking a combination of antibiotics cause I am allergic to penicillin. She also took a sample to text for Toxoplasmosis cause there was feces every where in the apartment. So I have a follow up in 3 days. That can explain the slight rash. Just if you all where wondering how it went. Also I order sleeve like cat gloves yesterday online :)

Too bad about the frog Craig.  Nice to see the dogs and cats are going to do ok though. Hope that your arm heals quickly and you should probably look into getting some LONGER cat gloves.

It amazes me sometimes at how cruel people can be. The super should be held somewhat responsible. He knew those animals were in there and he did nothing for at least 2 weeks! The owners will probably never be found and that sucks. I think animal cruelty should have stiffer penalties. Hope your arm feels better!

I hope so to.. One of the cops there had to cool me down I got a little heated with they guy. I am just getting sick of ignorant people. Wonder why I am sites like this. Try to associated myself with people with the same morals.
