I agree with funkyres too there are many smaller easly kept boid species of snakes like spotten pythons,kenyan sand boas, rosy boas and there is nothing wrong with colubrids like corns milks and kings I personaly like colubrids becase they are small active and most are very colorful as well as hardy
I would highly highly highly recommend against a burmese (or reticulated or rock or green anaconda) until after you have finished college and established yourself in the world. A burmese python will reach 6 to 8 feet in a year, and by the time it is 4 may be 15 feet or bigger (especially if a female). When you go off to college, which I highly recommend - you will not be able to take it with you and it will be very difficult if not impossible to find someone to take it.
A ball python or a carpet python would be a much better choice.
