The Chicago Herpetological Society will be hosting an event at the Wildlife Discovery Center that will include a chance to view their brand new venomous exhibit, which is one of the finest in the mid-west. There is also a second exhibit with both non-venomous and venomous animals. This event is free but donations are suggested. The WDC is normally closed on Sundays and they are opening for this event only.

We will also be trying to have a picnic type gathering if the weather is nice and the Middlefork Savannah Preserve that the WDC sits on is one of the finest black soil savanahs left in the State. It has a limited diversity of herps but a high density of what it does have. All animals are protected and collection is not allowed of anything. Like a national forest this is a blanket protection that incudes everything in the preserve
