My names nate im sole owner of an exotic fish and reptile shop, specializing in South American Aggressive fish, mainly piranha, stingrays etc. i also sell reptiles on a small base, mainly snakes and monitors/tegus, more of a hobby with the reptiles, but its growing and addicting, been keeping them my whole life so figured i could incorporate them into my fish shop. Im a direct Importer/Exporter, and love to pass on my savings to the consumer direct, with no middle man!

Also a fine dining chef full time, both are my hobbies i took to the next level.

eels are easy to keep they come from low aerated waters also, and can live through alot, i lost power for 2 days and had 4 12" in one tank, they did fine, and they eat great to, actually they love night crawlers! funny to watch these guys eat...ever see a fish get zapped, haha but dont worry the water doesnt conduct the electricity and your fine through the glass heh just dont come in contact with them~

I'd love to see it. I need to look into the legality of electric eels in my state (MS). Piranhas are illegal here as well as the rest of the southern states, but the piranhas know that of course. They'd have to since the northern streams, rivers and tributaries run into the southern states. If the piranhas didn't abide by the law and stay up north… I'm not sure what we'd do with all the trouble they'd cause for us southern states. So I’m curious if the electric eels are ok here, given the logical nature of our laws. I can’t easily find a law against them but I will continue to look.

…he woulda jumped my heart/ knocked me on my ass...they are no joke if they get you they can mess you up, skipping heart beats knock you out if your small child kill you... so you do the math :) but they are so cool, no teeth so zapp prey and swallow whole!

That is supposed to make me uninterested, in the whole “nature’s defense design” sense of the situation, but it has the opposite effect for some reason. :)

they are not an advanced keepers pet but be ready for a monster…

They sound amazing. What and how often are they fed? Are there strict temperature or salinity requirements? And thank you for the info, btw.
