Hissing Hogenose
Posted On 03/13/2008 18:02:09

When I went to 1 of my regular pet store on Mothers day I looked glazingly at the little Hognose that has been in there for over 4 months, he didn't look so glazingly at me He did his usual hissing and butting that he's done every time I’ve looked at him. I had been tempted 2 get him the 1st time I saw him but Trev the guy who works there told me 2 steer clear of him because of his nature (Trev's more of a reptile man, the guy who dealt with the Snakes, T's and Scorps had left at xmas and they wer still looking 4 his replacement) So on Mothers day I said my normal hello 2 my hissing friend then wondered off 2 buy the usual crix and mice while the kids (old kids lol) checked out the geckos. I'd got wat I needed and headed 2 find the kids wen Trev came up2 me, I think he was in shock as he told me a guy who already had a Hognose asked if he look at my hissing friend, Trev said the guy opened the container and be4 the Hognose could hiss or butt He just picked him up (no1 had picked my little Hissy Hoggie up), The guy said he was interested in him but wasn't sure if the 1 he already has was male or female so he was gonna bring his Hoggie in on Tues 2 have his sexed. He hadn't put a deposit on him and I was sooooooooo tempted 2 tell Trev I’d have him, But I knew in my heart I owed it 2 the little hissy hoggie 2 go home and look up on him and make sure he was a snake I was able 2 look after properly  (I felt a bit sick on the way home, feeling sure he'd be gone the next w-end wen I’d be able 2 go back) Still I went home Looked up on Hoggies, checked out his need and considered my experience and decided 2 go back and c if he was still there. As I walked throw the door Trev smiled (I think he knew how much I wanted him) The guy who was after my little hissy hoggie had been in on the tues with his Hognose and as luck wud have it he already had a male. WoooooooooHooooooooo He was all mine. I brought him home on the Sunday and just left him alone for 24 hours 2 settle in (plus an hour of me keep going 2 his enclosure then bottling it lol) When I opened his lid up he didn't even hiss, I swiftly picked him up and he almost seemed happy 2 be out, moving happily around my hands   So here a pic of my New Non Hissing Hoggie

He was destined 2 be mine

Gr8 escape or luv thy nei

My Desert Hairy Scorpion has always been a curious little thing. He rarely stays in the same place 4 long and is continuously digging and scratching around his tank. Last week in the middle of the night I woke 2 hear a scratching noise (not unusual in my house) so I got up 2 check which little critter it was this time. When I looked in2 his tank I couldn't c him, I was amazed 2 find him holding on2 the vent in his tank with nothing underneath 4 him 2 hitch up on.
The gr8 escape or luv thy neighbour? lol

My bf gave me his Pueblan Milk Snake at the w-end (cute little fellow) the snake I mean lol. He’d had the snake around 2-3 months. He used 2 handle the snake once a week. Ever since he’d had the snake whenever handled it secretes fluid all over ur hand. I’m guessing he’s doing this because he’s nervous as once he’s calmed down he stops.  I have read this is common with Milk snakes. I’ve started handling the snake every other day and I’m hoping he’ll calm down and won’t be as nervous as he gets used 2 being handled more. He’s eating fine and seems 2 have settled in well. I’m soooooooo plz’d with our latest family member even if he should be in nappies
