Hey RG :)
Posted On 08/03/2008 11:24:57
Hello Everyone, Just wanted to let you know what I been up to. Finished up in Oakville last week ended up rescueing 14 more cats they where surrendered to me cause there homes where destroyed and had no where to take them. DR Bill Polack was kind enough to let me house the cats at his clinic till I was finished with the disaster shelters closing. He even fixed half for me for free. I am now in Barrington, IL right out of Chicago. At my friends Dr DEb she runs a clinic and no kill shelter from her farm. We meet in New Orleans while working after Katrina she is awesome. Its animal heaven here like just in the office there's like 15 cats lol... So far we have found homes for 4 of the cats Beardiefreak ended up taking two (Well i kinda asked her kids first if they wanted a cat lol ).. Only sad news is one turned up FIV pos. so he will be flying home with me and going to a friends in Maryland he runs a cat sanctuary for special need cats Rude rescue ranch... But I plan on staying till my oringal date of the 20th and just fly out of Ohare instead of Cedar rapids. Just feel like I owe Deb for helping me place the last cats . She is a Holistic vet so I am learning a lot from her. Been helping with Surgery's and animal care.. miss you all.. :) Will post pics once I get near Wifi on dail up right now... Craig

Lets come together for the animals!!!!

One of my friends from another forum worte this up to help get up funds for Iowa animals rescue responds...

Hello Everyone,

I am writing this to ask for your help. We have amongst us an amazing human being. A man who truly cares about animals.

Let me tell you a little bit about him. His name is Craig.

In 1999, Hurricane Floyd released up to 20 inches of rain across the Eastern part of the states. It caused every river and stream to flood, many setting new flood records. Whole communities were under water for weeks. Roads and bridges were heavily damaged. In Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, southeast Pennsylvania and southeast New York 7,000 homes were destroyed, 17,000 homes were uninhabitable, 56,000 were damaged, and every road East of I-95 was flooded. 10,000 people were housed in temporary shelters.

But what about all these people’s pets? The many that they could not take with them? This went through Craig’s mind, so he decided to volunteer with HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) to help evacuate the animals that were left behind. This is when Craig realized that this was his passion. Every single part of it, from rescuing the animal, to watering and feeding, to the cleaning of the cages.

Ever since then, he has volunteered with local shelters where ever he has lived. In the years 2000 to 2003 he helped rescue stranded pets in Florida due to the active hurricanes in that area.

When the law to shoot the wolves on site was passed in 2004, Craig helped defenders of wild life trap and relocate wolves from Utah to Colorado.

In 2006, he evacuated animals, with the Orange County Animal Control, during the fires in California.

But everyone knows that the biggest animal rescue in history was initialized when Katrina hit in 2005. The most severe loss, in New Orleans, happened when the levee system failed in more than 50 places. The storm caused major destruction across the entire Mississippi coast and into Alabama, as far as 100 miles. 80% of the city of New Orleans, and many neighboring areas were flooded. Katrina was one of the five deadliest in hurricane history.

Not many people will drop everything that is going on in their lives, but this is Craig’s calling. His passion. Volunteering with many different rescue agencies such as ARNO, Best Friends Rescues, and many others.

Craig has been contacted to join these groups in Iowa at this point. After returning from Katrina and utilizing all of his funds, we all know how hard it is to play catch up, we are asking for your help in any small donation that you could make. Aside from helping our animals, he is a wonderful parent to a gorgeous little girl. He needs our help right now, and we should be proud and honored to be able to be a part in bringing the animals to safety, and hopefully one day reuniting them with their own families.

Here is what someone has said about him:
“Craig is a sweet young man who seems to never sleep. He is out looking for animals all the time. I was at C Station from Dec. 28 to Jan 6. and watched him come and go over and over again on his missions. He saved a very special dog from drowning in a canal and she is now his constant companion. This dog looks up at him with a look that is precious. I’m sure she can’t believe that someone this kind and generous will always be there for her. Craig embodies the spirit of the dog rescuers.”

Let’s come together for the sake of the animals.

Thank you,
Edel

Need all your help
Posted On 06/16/2008 00:34:19

I would never even think about asking if I wasn't stretched so thin. But I am going to need a little help getting out to Iowa for animal rescue cause on the floods. I have a friend from RZ now seeing if she can get me a buddy pass from her airline. So that will save some cash just with mortgage, House bills. taxes and animal care. I am stretched so thin. There is dire need for experience fema certified rescuers. I have all the certifications to go... Also have lots of experience with flood response with the 6 months I spent in New Orleans.

FEMA IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System

FEMA IS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

FEMA IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction

FEMA IS-800 National Response Plan (NRP), An Introduction

All I really need is enough for the plane ticket and food while I will be there. I can set up a tent out the staging grounds . Only thing that might cost is a rental van but at this point don't think I will be needing one. As most of the rescues are going to be boat rescues. I might stay a while after the water resends for humane trapping. The animals need are help... If I have any money left over I will donate it to the organizations that will be there for supplys and medical care for the animals. If you have any further questions you can email me directly at Craigh123@comcast.net. If you would also like to donate 5, 10, 20 dollars to you can at pay pal at the same address..... I also will keep ever one updated every chance I get to get online if I can...

Wish me luck !!!!

VERY FUNNY!!!
Posted On 04/21/2008 11:36:42

A koala was sitting in a gum tree...... smoking a joint

when a little lizard walked past, looked up and said,

'Hey Koala! What are you doing?'

The koala said, 'Smoking a joint, come up and have some.'

So the little lizard climbed up and sat next to the koala

where they enjoyed a few joints.

After a while the little lizard said that his mouth was 'dry'

and that he was going to get a drink from the river.

The little lizard was so stoned that he leaned too far

over and fell into the river.

A crocodile saw this and swam over to the little lizard and

helped him to the side. Then he asked the little lizard,

'What's the matter with you?'

The little lizard explained to the crocodile that he

was sitting smoking a joint with the koala in the tree,

got too stoned and then fell into the river while taking a drink.

The crocodile said that he had to check this out and walked

into the rain forest, found the tree where the koala was

sitting finishing a joint. The crocodile looked up and said,

'Hey you!'

So the koala looked down at him and said,

'Shiiiiiiiiiiit dude.....

How much water did you drink?!!'

My night
Posted On 04/13/2008 08:28:02

Last night got a call from a friend who works for animal control in New Brunswick N.J .. There was an apartment where the tenants moved and left all there animals. 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a WTF .. I help out will local animal controls a lot. They where under staffed last night .. By the time I got there they already had the 3 dogs and 1 of the cats back at there facility . Took us a while to get the last cat. While under a bed getting her out I ended up getting some nice scratches right above my cat gloves. So right now my upper arm is pretty swollen.

Going to have to wait till tomorrow to go to the doctor. While there I noticed one of the most disgusting tanks I have ever seen in my life. There was a very malnourished White tree frog. But he was still alive barley. Seems the tenants moved out 2 to 3 weeks ago. It took the Super guy that long to call animal control. I had some choose words with him last night. He wasn't the sharpest pencil ion the box. He thought they where coming back for them.

They don't really have anything to care for reptiles / Amphibians. So I ended up taking him home. Was online looking up everything possible to help this little guy out. Set up a whole new tank.  Try putting some crickets by him but he didn't  even budge. Didn't get any sleep yet. But around 6 this morning, he passed think the stress from the move was a little to much for him to handle.

Still kinda sucks and is upsetting :(

I called New Brunswick this morning to see how the dogs and cats where doing. The 2 cats seem to be doing fine just where really hungry and thirsty. 2 out the 3 dogs where sent to the animal hospital. The older shep mix seems to be having some kind of kidney failure.  The pitbull mix just needed an IV he was so emaciated. Poor guys. :(  They all going to there vet on monday will keep an update...
