This is the last chance for us to get a word in, edgewise. Not sure how many of you still haven't heard, but there is an oncoming three-Tier legislation/law, being directed at our hobby. At this time, they haven't discussed the animals that will fall under each tier, but we need to help make sure there is some sense behind what they prohibit and regulate.
The meeting is in Vancouver, May28/29 it will be at the Marriot Pinnacle Hotel ballroom, 1128 West Hastings Street. Tickets available at the spca for $25.00 each. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it, as I will not have the means to get to Vancouver, but you can bet that I've been doing my part in trying to prevent this.
http://www.leg.bc.ca/38th4th/1st_read/gov29-1.htm This is a link to the bill, so you can read it over. I can only hope the results of this isn't too damaging, and the only way to do that, is to be there to at least get a word in Edgewise. The BC SPCA and Vancouver humane society wants to get us all shut down and driven out of the Province, this was a comment made by the Head of the BC SPCA, herself. These people are PETA lovers, and as sorry as it is to say, that should be an idea enough of how far these people will go to achieve what they want to do.

Huzzah! I can hardly wait. :D Now, on top of the new Mojave girl I'm getting, I'm more than likely going to have an '07 Irian Jaya Carpet python to pick up from Tim Cranwill, of Manitoba as well! I can hardly wait. Waiting for pictures of the girls he's got available so I can pick one out. :)
On top of that, my brother's talked me into getting him a Mexican Redknee tarantula. Arachnids aren't exactly my cup of tea, but he seems pretty hell-bent on taking care of it and cherishing it.. which was my original concern as I was afraid he'd use the hairy little beastie as a cruel prank to torture his big sister. ;) They're actually quite pretty-looking, I will admit.
So the countdown continues! I'm so ridiculously excited. New additions are always great. :D

One more month before the TARAS Spring show in Calgary Alberta! :D I can't wait, I'm picking up my female Mojave from Coils Select Serpents. She'll be a gorgeous addition to my collection, as well as a nice girl for my boy. Though the Lesser x phantom, and lesser x lesser leucies are much prettier and are the ones that're obviously a lot whiter, I rather kind of like the violet-ish head-markings on the mojave leucies. :) I'm super excited! I love shows, and knowing me I'll likely come home with something unplanned. I really actually want an anthill python, I may or may not get one this year, possibly later this summer at the Red Deer show. Either way.. yay! Another addition for my collection!
Though I'm sure quite a few BC Herpers have already heard this, the BC SPCA is looking to push for a complete restriction and ban on a ridiculous amount of Exotic pets that we keep and love. Within the list thus far, they've added all the giant pythons and boa constrictors! This is only a 'such as' list that they've given to provide a small idea of what they want made illegal to own. This, to me, means there could be a good chance that ball pythons and any form of smaller constrictor could be added to that list if we don't do something. http://www.spca.bc.ca/wildlifeact/SubmissionPackage/BC%20SPCA_Wildlife%20%20Act_Submission.pdf That is what they plan to do, I think that is the most extensive and ridiculous list I've ever laid eyes on. There is currently a petition to stop this and vouche for a right to keep exotics. I'm not sure if I can post the link to the petition here, but for those of you with Facebook, if you wish to sign it, go to the group Reptiles Canada Dot Com and click the link provided.

Was just an idea I thought up.. and was wondering what the feedback would be, and how successful said idea would turn out. How many of you out there, would be interested in a nice, charcoaled or painted picture of their herp? I was thinking about just doing snake and lizard-related art as a whole and selling it, but then I figured that a lot of people'd probably love a little keepsake drawing done of their favorite pet. I'd love to do this just as a hobby on the side, but right now it's just an up-in-the-air consideration. :3 What're your guys' thoughts on all this, is what I'd like to know, 'cuz.. well, if the interest is there, I'll definetely give it a shot.. and I suppose I should dig up some samples of my realistic artwork for all to gawk at, eh?
