So today was a very sad day for me..... Ackie has passed away. He wasn't feeling too good yesterday, but I thought it was just a rough day......so I pampered him yesterday like always.....and this afternoon he passed away....I'm pretty heart broken to say the least. He was a rescue that stole my heart and forever left his little foot prints. For those of you the met him you know how special he was to me, and for those who didn't get to meet him, he would have loved to meet you :) I jsut needed to get these words off my chest, thanks for reading.... -Sassy
I am in desperate need of a tank that is at least 5' long and 18-24" wide....we have a young savannah in our rehabilitation/adoption program and he is outgrowing the tank he's in. If you have a tank that size, with or without stand, and can donate it or even just take a decent amount of money that would be awesome. Please let me know ASAP. Thank You!
On July 25, 2008 our guest speaker will be Al Wolf, the founding father of the Sonoma County Reptile Rescue. At our meeting, Al will talk with us about native reptiles, and especially about local rattlesnakes. Since Al does rattlesnake relocation, he is sure to have several live specimins to show us. In addition to educational presentations and caring for the the many animals at the sanctuary, Al does native reptile (think rattlesnake) removal and relocation. In the spring when the weather starts to warm up, Al may get 5-10 calls a day to relocate these serpents from people's gardens to more remote locations. In addition to relocating rattlesnakes, Al rehomes other types of snakes, iguanas and turtles and tortoises. Al has been a lover of reptiles since childhood, and has an extensive background in reptile care, animal husbandry, and conservation. He has worked with the San Francisco Zoo, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, Animal Planet, and Louise A. Boyd Museum of Natural History. Al is currently the director of the Sonoma County Reptile Rescue, and has recently been involved with filming for a British television series, "Animal Rescue Squad". Bring a friend . . . . Come and be amazed ! www.baars.org Doors will open at 7:30PM and the meeting will start at 8:00PM. Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.
If any of you want to stop by and say hi, BAARS will be at the Sulphur Creek Wildlife Center in Hayward from 11 am - 3pm today :) Lots of stuff to do and look at :) Hope to see you there! -Setiva
We received a call that SJ Animal & Control has a female Iguana there that is dehydrated and has some sort of eye injury. I do not have room in my house right now for an Iguana so I'm trying to contact another rescue or specifically an Iguana rescue to go get her out of there. If you have any ideas let me know Thanks! Setiva
Just wanted to remind everyone of the BAARS meeting tomorrow night! If you need directions or information please let me know :) Thank You! See You There!
So I recently got this female panther from a family that was moving to New York. I don't know what "Local/Type" she is. I was thinking Nosy Be? Anyone have any suggestions? Her pictures are in my profile. THANK YOU!
Our set-up's are ready....and I am almost ready to place my order for a pair of chameleons, but I really would love to purchase locally. Is anyone in the bay area in contact with any local chameleon breeders? Veiled, Panthers...Jacksons??? If so please let me know as soon as you can :) Thank You! Setiva
