Well Folks there is a slight story to be told here. The other night was water bowl cleaning night and it was time to clean out the bowl for my female boa and to give her fresh water. Well as I reached in to grab the bowl, I was grabbed as well.
First thing I did was to grab her back end, I didn't want the snake to coil around my arm. Next step was to call my Girlfriend up to the herp room on our second floor. I calmly asked her to take a few photos of the snake holding on to me and she did. After the brief photo shoot, she loosened her grip and started to let go.
Now I wasn't feeding any snakes that night, no touching of any rodents or any other animals. As you can see she is a bit blue in the photos. She actually gave me a shed a little after 24 hours after the bite. I believe she was more startled than anything. She is a touchy snake that strikes at the cage when fast movements are in front of it. I belive she just struck to protect herself.

Here are images of my hand a few minutes after being grabbed.

Here are a few more pictures, 20 secons after the first 2, with the blood wiped off and no more bleeding. Yeah, it was that fast to stop.

And here is the bite 24 hours later

Picture of the girl another day before the accident.

Hello folks,
I just saw a post by Kathy Love on Cornsnakes.com.
Pointing us to an artical on Pethobbyist.com
Here is a brief snippet from that article.
"The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has made a significant move towards
banning the importation and interstate transport of Boa Constrictors
and Pythons in the United States. Quietly published in the Federal
Register, the agency is accepting public comments until April 30th. If
enacted this will devastate an already hard hit industry, dealing a
fatal death blow to a large number of businesses dependent on this
segment of the industry and drying up the supply of these pets to pet
owners across the United States. Noted herpetologist, author, former
zookeeper, and one of the leading private researchers and breeders of
pythons in the United States, David Barker, had this to say..."
